UPDATE (6/29/2020): DIVE MISSION- LAKE HAVASU Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Division of Boating Safety is continuing the investigation into a missing male subject on Lake Havasu. Members of the MCSO Dive Rescue and Recovery Team and the Lake Havasu City Police Department Dive Team began a second day of searching on Monday (6/29) and canvassed the waters of Thompson Bay searching for the male subject. At approximately 10:22 AM, divers located the male subject deceased in approximately 21 feet of water. The male victim has been identified as Gary Elliott Welmer, 67 of Lake Havasu City. This incident is still under investigation.   ORIGINAL POST BELOW On Sunday (6/28) at approximately 4:07 PM, 9-1-1 calls were received by the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center about a male subject that was missing in the water, on Lake Havasu, in the area of Thompson Bay. Deputies with The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Division of Boating Safety responded to the area. Several Boating Deputies who are members of the MCSO Dive Rescue and Recovery Team, donned their SCUBA gear, and immediately entered the water to search for the missing subject. Members of the Lake Havasu City Police Department Dive Team arrived a short time later, and also assisted with the underwater search efforts. At this time, the victim has not been located. Search efforts will continue into the night and into future days. Please be aware of these ongoing search efforts, and for the safety of our divers, please stay away from the area.
