UPDATE: HUMAN REMAINS IDENTIFIED- LAKE HAVASU CITY
Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident of a deceased male
subject found floating face down in Lake Havasu near a business in the 1300 block of McCulloch Blvd. on
October 5, 2019. Fingerprints from the deceased male subject were obtained during autopsy and sent to
Homeland Security for analysis and identification. On Friday (11/8), detectives were notified that the
fingerprints belonged to Hyok Kyo Chong, 52 of California. Further investigation revealed that Chong had
been reported missing out of Los Angeles, CA by family. Next of kin was notified of the findings. No obvious
signs of trauma or foul play were observed and the cause of death is still under investigation. This
investigation is ongoing.

ORIGINAL (10/7): DEATH INVESTIGATION- LAKE HAVASU CITY
Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a male subject
located deceased on Saturday (10/5). At approximately 9:15 AM, deputies were called to a business in the
1300 block of McCulloch Blvd. in Lake Havasu City. The reporting party advised that he had located a male
subject floating face down in between two rental boats, and the subject appeared to be deceased.
Detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation, noting that the deceased was fully clothed
with his shoes on. No obvious signs of trauma or foul play were observed during the investigation and no
identification was located. The deceased is described as an asian male, 5’ 6” to 5’ 10” tall, approximately
200 lbs, dark greying hair, and is thought to be between 40-50 years old. The body was conveyed by the
Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office, who will perform an autopsy and determine a cause of death.
