Update on Fatal Motorcycle Accident

Preliminary investigation revealed that on Sunday November 10, 2019, at approximately 4:37 pm, a black Suzuki Burgman 650 motorcycle was traveling eastbound on State Route 163 east of Clark County Mile Marker 12. At the same time, a black Honda Pilot was traveling westbound on State Route 163 approaching Clark County Mile Marker 12. For reasons unknown, the motorcycle drifted across the paved median and entered a westbound travel lane directly in the path of the Honda Pilot, causing both vehicles to collide head on. The occupants of the Honda Pilot sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to the Western Arizona Regional Medical Center. The motorcycle rider succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced deceased on scene.

The male operator of the Suzuki Burgman 650 motorcycle has been identified as 71 year old Harry James Matthies from Bullhead, Arizona.

This marks the Nevada Highway Patrol – Southern Command’s 47th fatal crash resulting in 49 fatalities for 2019.
