On May 28, 2023, at 9:42pm Northern Arizona Fire District was dispatched to the area of W Anson Smith Rd and Lead St. for a report of a vegetation fire.

First responding NAFD units were 1 engine, and Battalion Chief.  Units were faced with heavy terrain that was inaccessible by vehicle and had to walk in to the fire. The fire was roughly a half of an acre in size will slow movement. Additional resources were requested from NAFD and the City of Kingman. A water tender and a type 3 engine from NAFD and a ladder truck, type 6 engine, and a Battalion Chief from KFD responded.

Fire crews deployed and started cutting handlines to stop the forward progress of the fire while additional resources started extinguishing the fire.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.

NAFD would like thank the City of Kingman Fire Department partnership in making the citizen of the Districtsafe.

NAFD would also like to remind citizen that as the summer warms up and lack of precipitation vegetation becomes dried out and can very easily catch on fire. With our winds fires can spread fast and become very large. Be mindful were you drive and off road.
