Late Friday (12/6) morning, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office received a call that a 57-year-old male motorist had become stranded in his 4WD truck while trying to cross the Big Sandy River (Wikieup). Search and rescue was activated and swift water teams responded to his location. While en-route, he managed to self- rescue to the shore he had entered on. The Big Sandy River is one of several water ways in Mohave County that continue to run with large amounts of water for days, if not weeks, after a rainstorm has passed. Search and Rescue want to remind everyone that if you come across a barricaded roadway or a roadway that has water running over it to just “turn around, don’t drown”!
