MOHAVE VALLEY—A woman’s body was pulled from the Colorado River late Thursday afternoon after apparently falling in.

Mohave Valley Fire Department’s Fire Marshal Don Gibson said his agency was called out for a report of a female in the water south of the Avi Resort & Casino.

The fireboat found the victim’s body floating in the river south of Boundary Cone Road on the California side a short time later.

“Because of where she was found, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office will be handling the investigation,” said Gibson.

The body was recovered from the river and taken by boat to a location off Dike Road to awaiting deputies from SBCSO.

The woman’s identity has not been released pending notification of next-of-kin. The cause of death is being investigated by the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office.
