Youth Essay Contest to WIN a Drone

The Bullhead City Police Department is looking to area youth, between ages 12 to 15 years old, to enter an essay contest. Those interested will be tasked with composing an essay where they imagined themselves as a police officer, faced with a critical incident in which a drone could enhance daily operations and investigation techniques. The essay should reflect on why policing is important to them and their community as well as the future and practical application of technology, inclusive of implementing a drone, in police work!

The essay can be a short story, informational or research format and must be a minimum of 350 to a maximum of 1,000 words. The deadline to enter the contest to win a drone is Thursday, March 10th, 2022.

 

ESSAY CONTEST RULES:
🐝 Limit 1 entry per person.
🐝 Contestants must be 12 to 15 years of age and residing in the Bullhead City/ Fort Mohave area.
🐝 Name, age and phone number must be written on the essay.
🐝 All entries must be original and entirely created by the entrant.
🐝 Essays can be typed or hand written.
🐝 Entries will be judged by Bullhead City Police Department staff based on content, creativity and overall presentation according to their age.

CRITERIA:
🐝 Essay length between 350 – 1,000 words.
🐝 Writing should be clear, creative, and proofread; demonstrate genuine grappling with the topic; and be the student’s original writing.
🐝 Submissions should make persuasive arguments supported by specific examples and/or properly cited sources where appropriate. Essays can reference personal experiences, current events, legal cases, U.S. history, primary sources, and imagination.

PRIZES:
🏆First place: Remote Control Drone
🥈Runner up: 20’ Bicycle

HOW TO SUBMIT:
Original essays must be physically turned in, emailed or mailed and received by BHCPD by Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 5 p.m. Those turning in completed essays to the police department lobby will receive a small gift bag.
