MOHAVE COUNTY, AZ (August 3, 2022) — The Mohave County Health Department (MCDPH) Nursing staff has been notified of 1,072 new confirmed COVID-19 cases reported since Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at noon.  There are also 15 deaths reported. Eleven of those are previously reported positive cases and 4 are death reported today among those 1,072 new positive cases.

Mohave County has been categorized by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as an area of high COVID-19 transmission. Transmission rate is categorized by the CDC using a combination of three metrics – new COVID-19 admissions per 100,000 population, the percent of staffed inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients, and total new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population in the past 7 days. ADHS continues to review and audit case/death-related data, and as a result, numbers may fluctuate above or below previously reported.

Over the past month confirmed cases have continued to trend upward. Although there are currently no known direct transmission influences, large-scale gatherings, and travel may play a role in confirmed case trends.

In proportion to the number of confirmed cases, the number of deaths continues to stay in the low threshold. Fifteen total deaths have been reported since the last published COVID-19 report. Note that deaths are counted by the week of diagnosis and deaths by month may increase as there is often a lag between when a death occurs and when it is reported. In proportion to the number of confirmed cases, the number of deaths continues to stay in the low threshold.
