YUMA, Ariz. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) announced a temporary closure of T.K. Jones Campground and Boat Launch for surface re-paving from October 1, 2024 to November 15, 2024. BLM postulates to expedite the re-paving works; if the project is completed before November 15, the facility will recommence its operation prior to this date, stated BLM’s Field Manager Ray Castro.
T.K. Jones Campground and Boat Launch, situated on the backwaters of the Colorado River directly above Imperial Dam, hosts approximately 125 RV sites and numerous dispersed tent camping sites. The amenities offered by this site encompass a paved boat launch, docks, a canoe launch area, potable water dispenser, gray water disposal, and four restrooms equipped with flush toilets. The site also offers showers for an additional fee. Dispersed picnic tables and BBQ grills are available on-site for public use.
The BLM charges a nominal use fee for availing these facilities. For day-use, the charge is set at $10 per day per vehicle, $15 per vehicle for overnight use, or $75 for an annual pass.
BLM AZ has chosen T.K. Jones Campground and Boat Launch as a part of its potential fee changes drive aimed at modernizing its facilities. Further information about this initiative is available under the ‘BLM Yuma Field Office Amenity Fee Recreation Sites Draft Business Plan’ on the Bureau of Land Management’s website.
The BLM is entrusted with the management of over 245 million acres of public land, predominantly spread across 12 western states, including Alaska. Furthermore, the BLM also oversees 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. BLM’s mission is to maintain the health, biodiversity, and productivity of America’s public lands for the benefit of present and future generations.
