City-Wide Maintenance and Capital Improvement Projects Week of April 28
Bullhead City, AZ., April 24, 2025 – City of Bullhead City staff and contractors will be working on several projects throughout the city during the week of April 28.
* The construction of the new southbound right-hand turn lane on Highway 95 at Thunderstruck Drive will officially begin next week with the installation of conduit under the highway. This initial phase will not disrupt traffic.
* City Street Maintenance Crews will apply a slurry treatment to the Community Park parking lot nightly from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., starting Monday, April 28, and concluding Thursday morning, May 1. Motorists and park attendees should heed posted signage to navigate safely and avoid work zones.
* Various areas of the Optimum Community Center will remain closed as the City continues with Phase II of the renovation project, which includes the addition of indoor pickleball courts. Phase I was recently completed, introducing a remodeled gymnasium, expanded parking lot, remodeled kitchen, new shaded outdoor pickleball courts, remodeled multipurpose spaces, among other enhancements.
* City Street Maintenance Crews will conduct street sweeping across various streets in the city.
* Construction on a raised median with streetlights along Bullhead Parkway between Silvercreek Rd and Laredo Dr is temporarily on hold as the contractor awaits the delivery of final light poles, expected in May. All lanes will remain open until work resumes.
* Crews will energize the new traffic signal at the Merrill Ave intersection at Highway 95 on Wednesday, April 30, contingent on numerous factors. The traffic light timings will be incrementally adjusted in the initial weeks for optimal flow, with crews finalizing the project on-site.
* The rehabilitation of the 18-1 lift station, located southeast of Highway 95 and Laughlin Ranch Blvd, continues. The project involves installing Predl material paneling to protect against corrosion and extend the system’s lifespan. This is the third lift station to receive such treatment.
* Contractors for Bullhead City Utilities will complete necessary asphalt and concrete repairs across the city following recent water line interventions.
* Precise Builders is transforming the former Mohave Valley Daily News building into the new Bullhead Animal Resource Center, set to open in summer 2025. The center will offer expanded capacity, a veterinary clinic, dog washing station, pet crematorium, and more.
* Kay Constructors LLC is constructing a new headworks and aeration basin at the Section 10 wastewater treatment plant to enhance the city’s water reclamation capabilities and safeguard infrastructure from damage by foreign materials.
* The RC track at Rotary Park will undergo maintenance and improvement work, including a new concrete oval track, catch basin, artificial turf, and new fencing.
* The skate park at Rotary Park will see additions like artificial turf, shade structures, and new skate features. The park remains open with areas under construction blocked off by temporary fencing.
* Bullhead City Utilities is installing 80 new fire hydrants, including intelligent hydrants, citywide by the end of June. This may involve planned service outages in areas of installation. These new hydrants will enhance monitoring and response capabilities for the city’s water infrastructure.
* New measurement equipment installation in select manholes by Bullhead City Utilities will cause temporary lane closures during installation.
* Installation of well 20-1 by Kay Constructors on northern Riverview Drive between Highway 95 and Marina Boulevard has commenced. The project also involves a transmission main from well 20-1 to the Big Bend water tank.
* City Street Maintenance crews are leveling the median along Bullhead Parkway. Residents are reminded to dispose of waste products appropriately to prevent infrastructure damage.
