BULLHEAD CITY, AZ – At approximately 8:00 p.m., Bullhead City Fire Department crews responded to a report of an apartment fire in the 850 block of Warren Road. Upon arrival, crews found that the affected structure was a small, two-story residential duplex and confirmed that all occupants had safely evacuated.

Firefighters quickly subdued the flames and extinguished the fire, containing it to an upstairs bedroom in one unit. No injuries were reported during the incident.

Fire investigators determined that a small lithium-ion battery, plugged into an electrical outlet, was the source of the fire. Fortunately, working smoke alarms alerted the occupants in time, allowing them to evacuate safely.

The Bullhead City Fire Department reminds residents that all lithium-ion batteries carry a potential fire risk. To help reduce the risk of a battery-related fire, residents should:

• Charge lithium-ion batteries only when they are home and awake.
• Unplug batteries and charging devices once they are fully charged.
• Never leave lithium-ion batteries charging while asleep or away from home.
• Avoid using damaged batteries or charging equipment showing signs of overheating.
• Ensure that working smoke alarms are installed throughout the home, including in and around sleeping areas.

Working smoke alarms provide critical early warning and valuable time to escape. Take a few minutes today to test your smoke alarms and review your home fire escape plan with everyone in your household.

The Bullhead City Fire Department encourages residents to charge safe and stay safe.
