BULLHEAD CITY ANNOUNCES COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP DAY
BULLHEAD CITY, AZ – October 10, 2024— The City of Bullhead City is uniting with several prominent community partners to host a large-scale waste disposal and recycling event. On Saturday, October 19, the community is invited to participate in the clean-up day that will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In collaboration with Mohave County, Bullhead City Fire Department, Republic Services, and Nevada State Recycling, the event is scheduled to simultaneously unfold throughout the parking areas of Gary Keith Park and the Arizona Motor Vehicle Division. Located in the city at 2345 Highway 95 and 1325 Alonas Way respectively, the two sites will serve as collection points where residents can confidently discard various types of waste.
Gary Keith Park will accept electronics, aluminum cans, and residential bulky items, the latter being a new addition to the clean-up day. Household hazardous waste including used tires will be accepted at the Arizona Motor Vehicle Division.
The initiative, according to City Manager Toby Cotter, is an opportunity to maintain a clean and sustainable environment while providing a solution for residents to dispose of diverse waste varieties that cannot be trashed in the standard manner. “This event aids in keeping electronics out of landfills and also gives the community a way to dispose of hazardous materials which aren’t allowed in trash. We encourage everyone to make the most of this opportunity,” Cotter said.
Cotter further praised Republic Services for their willingness to accept bulky items, extending their complimentary service normally limited to six pick-ups annually for Bullhead City residents. However, commercial bulky items will not be accepted. “By accepting such items during our clean-up event, we are allowing residents to dispose of more items without cost, extending this service to anyone in the County who can bring their item to the park,” he added.
In a bid to promote recycling and support local charity, aluminum cans collected will generate funds for Live Love Barc, who partner with Bullhead City Animal Shelter to finance the spay and neuter program.
Furthermore, Nevada State Recycling will provide electronic waste recycling services and transport electronic waste to their Las Vegas, Nevada facility for proper disposal.
Commercial waste, industrial waste, explosives, ammunition, and documents for shredding will not be accepted during the event.
