Bullhead City Man Arrested In Connection Of Double Homicide

BULLHEAD CITY–A sixth person has been arrested in connection to a double homicide that occurred in January in Fort Mohave.

Lucas Wayne Shankles, 22, of Bullhead City, is facing two counts first-degree murder and two counts kidnapping, announced the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office late Friday afternoon.

Shankles was apprehended by Bullhead City Police officers around 3 a.m. Friday in the area of Marina Boulevard and Coronado Drive. He was subsequently transferred into the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

Five other suspects remain in custody on charges related to the homicide. They are: Francisco Javier Romero, 26; Lamya Bencheqroun, 26; Jose Vizcara, 28; Robin Reid, 49; and Justin Todd Maxwell, 36.

The bodies of Mona Carter and Daryl Ward were found Jan. 10 near a burned out vehicle in the desert area east of Fort Mohave. Sheriff’s officials have not disclosed the actual cause of death, but have been investigating a possible drug connection surrounding their deaths.
