BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. – October 8, 2025

Bullhead City Police arrested 30-year-old Erik Anthony Arenas for disorderly conduct with a dangerous instrument, cruelty to animals, and resisting arrest at Rotary Park. On Tuesday, October 7, at around 5 p.m., officers responded to the Don Sullivan Park area after receiving reports of a man abusing a puppy and swinging a machete.

On scene, witnesses described how Arenas had been slicing trees with the machete, with several freshly cut branches found on the ground nearby. Witnesses also reported seeing Arenas kick his dog multiple times and expressed concern over his violent, erratic behavior. When officers informed Arenas that he was under arrest, he was uncooperative and struggled with the police.

The puppy appeared unharmed and was taken to the Bullhead City Animal Shelter for care. Arenas was booked into the Mohave County Jail in Kingman.
