The Bullhead City desert is cleaner today thanks to the joint efforts of The City, Golden Vertex, Republic Services, Mohave County’s ERACE program, the Bureau of Land Management, and other civic-minded groups and individuals to beautify the desert and remove trash and debris.

“This was the most successful annual clean-up operation that Golden Vertex has participated in throughout the 12 years that we have been here,” said Joe Bardswich, President of Golden Vertex. “We are very proud of the contribution that we and our employees were able to make today and thankful for their contribution and that of other organizations.”

Over 50 people, including individual volunteers and those from participating organizations, showed up to the annual clean-up event, held on Thursday, February 15, 2024, along Silver Creek Road East of Bullhead Parkway. This year, the event was expanded past the city limits, where the clean-up typically ends, thanks to the support of the Bureau of Land Management. Volunteers, along with staff from the participating organizations, cleaned the side road banks focusing on removing large and small items. Clean efforts filled one-and-a-half large dumpsters that were brought to the site by Republic Services in the morning and hauled to the County landfill after the event.

The removal of large items was made possible through the use of heavy equipment operated by partnering organizations, including two John Deere tractor loaders and two Cat 950 loaders operated by the City, and a skid-steer operated by Chris Herb of Allstar Construction. Additionally, A&G Towing removed 4 abandoned vehicles from the site for a reduced fee.

The event was organized by Karen Spletzer, Administrative Analyst at the City of Bullhead City, who appreciated the support of several City Departments.

“Thank you so much to everyone who came and helped us beautify our desert,” said Spletzer. “The City of Bullhead City is proud of the success of this year’s desert clean-up event and looks forward to continuing its efforts to promote a clean and healthy environment”
