City of Kingman Primary Election Results

KINGMAN, Ariz. –  The candidates who successfully filed to have their name printed on the Primary Election ballot were: Mayor: Ellery “Ken” Watkins, and Councilmembers: Marion “Smiley” Ward and Shawn Savage. Write-in candidates are Mayor: James “Jimmi D” Kopf and Councilmembers: Cameron Patt and Charles “Kevin” Sarkisian. A Special City Council meeting will take place before the regularly scheduled meeting, Tuesday, August 16 at 5:00p.m., where the Kingman City Council will vote to adopt Resolution No. 5426 – Canvass of the August 2 Primary Election. Arizona Revised Statutes require the governing body to canvass this type of election within 6-20 days of the election. Election materials will be available online prior to the meeting for inspection by the Council and/or public.

That it is hereby found, determined and declared of record that Ellery (Ken) Watkins did receive more than one-half of the total number of valid votes cast for the seat available for the office of Mayor and is hereby issued a Certificate of Election.

And that the votes cast for the write-in candidates for Mayor were as follows:

Kopf, James (Jimmi D) 34

That the votes cast for the candidates for councilmember were as follows:

And that the votes cast for the write-in candidates for councilmember were as follows:

Patt, Cameron 540
Sarkisian, Charles (Kevin) 190

That it is hereby found, determined and declared of record that Shawn Savage and Marion “Smiley” Ward did receive more than one-half of the total number of valid votes cast for a vacant Council seat based upon the calculation as prescribed in A.R.S. § 9-821.01(D) and have been elected to two of the three seats available for the Common Council and are hereby issued a Certificate of Election.

That it is hereby found, determined and declared of record that Cameron Patt, write-in candidate for councilmember did receive the minimum number of votes 278, as prescribed in A.R.S. § 9-821.01 and §16-645, and therefore, will be issued a certificate of nomination to have their name placed on the general municipal election ballot of the City of Kingman, Mohave County, Arizona, to be held on the 8th day of November, 2022.

Charles (Kevin) Sarkisian, write-in candidate for councilmember did not receive the minimum number of votes 278, as prescribed in  A.R.S. § 9-821.01 and §16-645, and therefore, will not be issued a certificate of nomination to have their name placed on the general municipal election ballot.

The filing deadline to be a write-in candidate on the November general election ballot is September 29, 2022, at 5:00 p.m.
