URGENT – FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE

Elevated fire concerns for Mohave County including the Colorado

River Valley expected on Sunday as a result of single-digit

relative humidities in the afternoons, poor overnight recoveries,

and gusty southwest winds.

RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 8 PM MST SUNDAY FOR

STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY FOR MOHAVE COUNTY…

The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued a Red Flag

Warning, which is in effect from 11 AM to 8 PM MST Sunday.

* AFFECTED AREA… All Mohave County, AZ

* TIMING…Sunday late-morning through Sunday evening.

* WIND…Southwest winds between 20 and 25 mph with gusts

  approaching 35 mph.

 

* HUMIDITY…Afternoon humidity values between 5 and 10 percent

  with overnight recoveries between 20 and 30 percent.

* IMPACTS…Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.

  Outdoor burning is not recommended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions

are either occurring now…or will shortly. A combination of

strong winds…low relative humidity…and warm temperatures can

contribute to extreme fire behavior.
