Bullhead City, Ariz. – The Bureau of Reclamation is opening the power plant at Davis Dam on September 27 in celebration of National Public Lands Day. The day’s event will feature special guided tours of Davis Dam, showcasing its vital role in providing water and power to the Southwest and connecting visitors with the rich fabric of American history. Residents of Bullhead City and Laughlin are invited to participate in an exclusive guided tour of the Davis Dam power plant during a free, limited-ticket event. Attendees will walk from the forebay to the spillways, followed by a descent into the power plant to visit the generator gallery, turbine gallery, and tailrace. Tickets are limited, so interested parties are encouraged to secure their spot soon.
“We are excited to celebrate this momentous occasion with our community. This partnership with Clark County and Mohave County in celebration of Public Lands Day and America250 allows us to honor our shared history and inspire future generations,” said Acting Regional Director Genevieve Johnson. “Davis Dam is not just an engineering marvel, it is a testament to the resilience and ingenuity of the American spirit.”
“The Davis Dam plays a vital role in supporting the economic stability, water security, and environmental health of Clark County,” said Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft. “I am grateful to the Bureau of Reclamation for opening this impressive site for tours on National Public Lands Day and for the allocation of tickets that will be dedicated for Laughlin residents. What a tremendous way for locals and visitors to learn more about this incredible infrastructure.”
“On behalf of the residents of District 2 of Mohave County, I would like to personally thank the Bureau of Reclamation and offer heartfelt congratulations on opening Davis Dam for this special one-day public tour event and celebrating National Public Lands Day on September 27, 2025,” said Mohave County Supervisor Rich Lettman. “This milestone not only showcases the Bureau’s commitment to education but also invites our communities to experience firsthand the ingenuity behind one of the West’s most vital water infrastructure projects. By opening the doors to Davis Dam, you’re offering a rare opportunity for the public to connect with the region’s water story, appreciate the legacy of the building of Davis Dam, and deepen respect for the incredible work carried out by your team.”
