FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

National Police Week 2025: Honoring and Remembering Our Fallen Law Enforcement Officers

“A career in law enforcement is noble and should never be treated as common. It takes very uncommon and extraordinary people to do the job and do it well. I would hope that every law enforcement officer is in the thoughts and prayers of the community in which they serve.” – Chief Rusty Cooper, Kingman Police Department

Kingman, AZ – Once again, communities across the nation will come together during National Police Week 2025 to honor the courageous men and women of law enforcement who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty—and to support the families, friends, and fellow officers they left behind.

This year, 345 names will be added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. These include 148 officers who lost their lives in 2024 and 197 officers from previous years whose sacrifices were only recently documented.

Among those being honored are four Arizona officers who tragically lost their lives in 2024:

– Police Officer Zane Tristan Coolidge, Phoenix Police Department
End of Watch: September 6, 2024
Cause: Gunfire

– Detective Ryan So, Scottsdale Police Department
End of Watch: June 13, 2024

– Police Officer Joshua Briese, Gila River Police Department
End of Watch: June 1, 2024

The names of all 345 fallen officers will be formally dedicated during the 37th Annual Candlelight Vigil on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., at 8:00 p.m. EDT on May 13, 2025.
