LAKE HAVASU CITY NAMED TOP PERFORMER AS VIETNAM WAR COMMEMORATIVE PARTNER
Lake Havasu City, AZ – Lake Havasu City receives a Top Performer certificate from the Department of Defense Vietnam War Commemoration for its outstanding support and partnership of Vietnam War veterans since the commemoration of 2012.
The certificate was awarded by Major General U.S. Army Director Edward J. Chrystal, Jr., representing the Department of Defense United States Vietnam Veteran Commemoration. In a letter addressed to Mayor Cal Sheehy, Major General Chrystal acknowledged Lake Havasu City’s efforts: “Your dedication and initiative contributed significantly to this national tribute. Your worthy efforts have helped facilitate healing and bestow honor to these veterans, their families and our communities.”
In response to this recognition, Mayor Sheehy said, “We are so proud of this achievement and for our program founders. Lake Havasu City remains committed to continuing its efforts to support and honor Veterans from all branches of the US Military.”
Lake Havasu City had joined the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration program over a decade ago. Former Mayor Mark Nexsen and Councilmember Donna McCoy spearheaded a committee comprised of members from local veteran organizations to coordinate events.
The Vietnam War Veteran Commemoration Program Committee boasts members from the American Legion, Daughters of the American Revolution, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 27, Elks Lodge 2399, Lake Havasu City Vet Center and many more.
The City extends its special thanks to Dub Campbell, Sandy Nagel, and the Friends of the Fair Rodeo Grounds for their ongoing dedication.
