TRI-STATE – The Colorado River Women’s Council’s annual Leadership Class will continue accepting applications through this coming Friday, August 26, for its 2022-2023 program. The class – one day each month from September through May – is for up-and-coming community leaders of all ages. “This is the first year we’ll be able to have a full schedule since pre-COVID,” said Leadership Class program chair and CRWC treasurer Melinda Sobraske. “It’ll consist of nine unique and diverse sessions, plus an opening informational reception and a graduation.” Leadership Class graduates include business leaders, stay-at-home parents, retirees, educators, non-profit organization professionals and more. Graduates have also run for elected office.

Applicants from throughout the Tri-State area are welcome, Sobraske noted. CRWC and the Leadership Class are open to both men and women, despite the sponsoring organization’s name. Interactive day-long workshops and field trips will cover area history, government, media and communications, education, public safety and first responders, tourism and economic development, health care and area courts. All classes except the initial informational reception are on Fridays. For more than a decade, Leadership Class members have selected and planned class projects, which are then donated to local organizations. Those have included the area’s first dog park, benches for parks and schools, and improvements to Animal Care and Welfare’s shelter.
Employers are required to allow students paid time off to participate, and pay $200 of the tuition; employees pay the remaining $50 to indicate their commitment. Some scholarships are available for those who are self-employed or retired. Participants may not have more than two excused absences during the program.

Applications are available online at https://coloradoriverwomenscouncil.info/leadership. They may be e-mailed when completed to treasurer@coloradoriverwomenscouncil.info, or mailed to CRWC Leadership Program, PO Box 22114, Bullhead City AZ, 86439. Additional information
is available from Sobraske at 928-234-1729.
