Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Attempted Murder and Aggravated Assault in Dolan Springs
DOLAN SPRINGS – On Wednesday, February 26 at approximately 11:31 AM, deputies from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the 18000 block of Mariposa Drive in Dolan Springs following a request for a welfare check. Upon arrival, deputies encountered Randolph Cornell, 64, a resident of Dolan Springs. During this interaction, officers discovered a female victim in the hallway of the residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Randolph Cornell was immediately detained by authorities, while deputies administered life-saving measures to the female victim. Medical personnel from the Lake Mohave Ranchos Fire Department arrived on the scene to provide additional aid. The victim was subsequently airlifted to a Las Vegas hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
Detectives from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office responded to the location and took over the investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that Cornell resided with the female victim at the property. During a verbal altercation, Cornell reportedly fired multiple shots, incapacitating the victim. Approximately one hour later, a friend arrived to collect the victim and found her lying injured on the floor. When the friend attempted to offer assistance, Cornell allegedly assaulted him and destroyed his cell phone. The friend then sought help from a nearby establishment.
Randolph Cornell has admitted to his involvement in the incident. He has been booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility on charges of Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, Assault, and Criminal Damage, all of which are felony offenses.
This investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
