On September 2, 2025, while visiting the campground, a park visitor was assaulted by another camper. The victim dialed 911 for assistance, and the assailant fled into the nearby desert. The suspect, identified as Guy Miranda, is described as a 57‑year‑old white male, approximately 5’8” tall, weighing 175 lbs, with short black hair and brown eyes. Miranda has an extensive criminal history and is considered armed and dangerous.
