We have received several calls recently alerting us to an increase in phone scams. We are aware that scammers are using our employee’s names and a fake badge number to call and tell you have an outstanding citation, missed jury summons, or an active warrant. The scammer will then tell you you need to come to the office or make an immediate payment over the phone to avoid arrest.

We want to emphasize a few key points in regards to these calls. No law enforcement agency will call you to let you know you have a warrant. The Sheriff’s Office WILL NOT call you and ask for a payment over the phone. The Sheriff’s Office WILL NOT come to your house and arrest you if you refuse to make the payment over the phone. If someone claims they are from our agency and tells you to complete any of the above mentioned tasks, IT IS A SCAM.

We understand that getting these types of phone calls can be intimidating. We also understand that the person making these phone calls can be pushy and aggressive. Please know that our agency DOES NOT conduct business in this manner. If you receive these calls, we suggest you hang up the phone immediately and do not give out any personal information. Protect yourself, your assets, and your identity by not giving any information to these callers.
