BULLHEAD CITY, AZ., December 15, 2022 – Those looking to adopt an animal this December may need to act fast. As of December 15, only 1 cat, 4 kittens, and 8 dogs are currently available in the Bullhead City Animal Shelter after 34 animals have been adopted since December 1. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Swanty’s, all pet adoptions during the month of December are completely free, and the Bullhead City Animal Shelter is well on its way to being empty by January 1.

“We are in shock of the number of amazing adoptions this month, and it’s not over yet,” said Alyson Harms, Animal Shelter Manager. Harms noted that there are a few animals currently in the shelter that won’t be available for adoption until later in the month. Despite low availability of animals for adoption, Harms still cautions prospective pet owners to carefully evaluate their would-be pets for good fit in the home.

“Before adopting, please consider the breed, the temperament, and do a meet and great before bringing new family members home,” Harms said. “Adoption is a lifetime commitment and coming from a shelter can be stressful and they need time to adjust to their new home.” Harms recommends reaching out to Risen Star Kennel for assistance with helping pets adapt to their new homes. Risen Star Kennel can be contacted over the phone at 928-754-3006.

“Swanty’s has been an amazing partner of the City and the Bullhead City Animal Shelter for several years,” said Bullhead City Sponsorship Coordinator Jackie Jensen. “Who knows how many pets’ lives have been dramatically improved thanks to their genericity and commitment to our animals.”
