Tri-state Community Honors Exceptional Contributions at the 26th Annual Community Achievement Awards

In recent celebratory news from Laughlin, Grace Hecht was rightfully bestowed the esteemed title of “Citizen of the Year” at the distinguished 26th annual Community Achievement Awards event. Hecht, widely recognized for her extensive involvement in numerous community organizations, has positively impacted the lives of many individuals across the Tri-state region.

Additionally, the impressive achievements of Zane Gledhill-Rabin, a student at the Mohave Accelerated Learning Center, were acknowledged with the title of Connie Davis Youth Citizen of the Year. Notably, George DeLeon, John McCormick, and Kent Divich were honored with the annual Spirit awards for their substantial contributions towards enhancing the quality of life within the region. The occasion was graced by the Laughlin Chamber of Commerce at a formal black-tie gala hosted at the Aquarius Casino Resort, where Jackie Wallin and John Hassett presided as the masters of ceremony.

The Richard Springston American Legion Post 60 notably served as the premier sponsor for this highly regarded event in the Tri-state region.

The panel of judges, led by former Bullhead City Mayor Tom Brady, responsible for evaluating the 17 categories and over 70 finalists nominated by the citizens of the Tri-state, ultimately selected Grace Hecht as the Citizen of the Year, alongside other distinguished finalists including John McCormick, Kent Divich, and Jennifer Ronan.

Hecht, a current member of the Bullhead City Council, stands as the founder and president of Make Bullhead Better, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the local community and its surrounding areas. The organization actively engages in various impactful initiatives such as community food distributions, clean-up drives, family-friendly events, senior assistance programs, and baking classes at the Bullhead City Senior Nutrition Center.

Zane Gledhill-Rabin, a senior at MALC, demonstrates exceptional involvement in a multitude of school activities, holding significant leadership roles in clubs and societies, including presidency in the Interact and Key Club chambers and the vice presidency of the student council. He is also an integral part of several other clubs and actively participates in volunteer work both within and outside the school.

George DeLeon, recognized with the Spirit of the Colorado River award, assumes a pivotal role as the senior vice commander for VFW Post 404 in Mohave Valley and is actively engaged in various community service organizations. John McCormick, the Spirit of Arizona recipient, boasts a long-standing history of significantly contributing to the region, especially in his instrumental role in various developmental projects and community support endeavors. Kent Divich, awarded the Spirit of Nevada, stands as a prominent real estate agent actively involved in philanthropic initiatives, offering substantial support to families in need and contributing significantly to the community’s welfare.

Furthermore, the event celebrated numerous other distinguished individuals and organizations, from educators and tourism contributors to business entities and community service organizations, all of whom have made remarkable strides in enriching the Tri-state region.

It was an evening filled with well-deserved recognition for individuals and groups that have diligently worked towards enhancing the fabric of the Tri-state community.
