MOHAVE COUNTY, AZ (July 13, 2022) — The Mohave County Health Department (MCDPH) Nursing staff has been notified of 935 new confirmed COVID-19 cases reported since Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at noon. (Three weeks ago.)
Mohave County has been categorized by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as an area of high COVID-19 transmission. Transmission rate is categorized by the CDC using a combination of three metrics – new COVID-19 admissions per 100,000 population, the percent of staffed inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients, and total new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population in the past 7 days. Over the past month confirmed cases have continued to trend upward. Although there are currently no known direct transmission influences, large-scale gatherings, and travel may play a role in confirmed case trends.
There are also 14 deaths reported. (10 previously reported deaths, 4 new reported deaths.) In proportion to the number of confirmed cases, the number of deaths continues to stay in the low threshold. Fourteen total deaths have been reported since the last published COVID-19 report. Note that deaths are counted by the week of diagnosis and deaths by month may increase as there is often a lag between when a death occurs and when it is reported.
The ATTACHED Fact Sheet in this report shows considerably more detailed information and explanations on the data.
The next report will be on Wednesday, July 27, 2022.

Treatment Options
ADHS has launched a new website for treatments in Arizona to complement the current monoclonal antibodies website.
ADHS – Everyone – Monoclonal Antibodies (mAbs) (azdhs.gov)
ADHS – Everyone – Find Treatment (azdhs.gov)
ADHS – Everyone – Antivirals (azdhs.gov)
While vaccines provide the best protection from COVID-19, treatment options such as Monoclonal Antibody therapy can shorten the duration of symptoms and reduce the risk of severe illness and hospitalization.
Monoclonal antibodies, or mAbs, are made in a laboratory to fight a particular infection — in this case, the virus that causes COVID-19 — and are given to patients directly with an infusion or a shot. Your body naturally makes antibodies to fight infection. However, your body may not have antibodies designed to recognize a new virus-like the virus that causes COVID-19. That’s why mAb treatment may help patients at high risk for severe symptoms or hospitalization.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) to allow the use of monoclonal antibody therapies for the treatment of mild to moderate COVID19 in certain high-risk patients. Some people who have been exposed to COVID-19 may qualify for treatment even before testing positive for COVID-19. This treatment is not a substitute for vaccination against COVID-19.

Veklury® (Remdesivir) is approved for hospitalized patients age 12 years and older who weigh at least 88 pounds, with more severe COVID-19 disease. Your hospital care team will decide if you are eligible to receive this treatment.
