BULLHEAD CITY, AZ., June 9, 2023 – The City of Bullhead City is seeking public input to inform design choices on a project to convert the former Mohave Valley Daily News building into a new Bullhead City Animal Shelter. A new 12-minute online survey has been published at bullheadcity.com/ShelterSurvey asking the public questions about their preferences for the shelter. Paper copies of the survey will also be available at City Hall, The Bullhead Senior Campus, and the current Bullhead City Animal Shelter during business hours.

In addition to the survey, beginning Monday June 12, Bullhead City Human Services Director Jeff Tipton will give daily tours at 4 p.m. of the future Bullhead City Animal Shelter located at 2435 Miracle Mile. Tours will occur once daily at 4 p.m. Monday through Friday the week of June 12, and Tuesday through Friday the week of June 20.

“The tours are available to anyone who shows up,” said Tipton. “We want people to see the facility for themselves and have a firm understanding of the space we’re working with when they give us input on our plans to convert the building into the new Bullhead City Animal Shelter.”

Public input is a crucial next step in the city’s efforts to convert the building.

“We want to make sure we’re designing and building this for our community,” said Bullhead City Manager Toby Cotter referring the Animal Shelter.

The city is working with the architectural firm Selberg and Associates to design the new Bullhead City Animal Shelter. Data collected from the survey will be used to make design decisions and draw up a final plan to present to City Council.

“We know our residents care deeply about animals, and we’re working hard to ensure that we get this right,” said City Manager Toby Cotter. “The public will have multiple opportunities to be heard on this subject.”
