Kingman, AZ — Last week, the City of Kingman proudly celebrated the graduation of the first cohort of its 2025 Leadership & Excellence Supervisor Academy. Sixteen dedicated City employees successfully completed the intensive 12-week program designed to cultivate strong, effective leadership across all departments.
This first cohort marks a major milestone in Kingman’s growing investment in workforce development, made possible through strong regional partnerships with Mohave Community College (MCC) and AZ@Work. The Academy features 96 hours of intensive instruction led by highly qualified instructors from MCC and City staff. The program is fully grant-funded, covering the $3,265 cost per participant, through the collaborative efforts of MCC’s Gina Kremper and AZ@Work’s Joe Throneberry.
The program concluded with a capstone event where graduates presented innovative ideas and department-specific projects to a mock City Council composed of Kingman’s leadership team. Every presentation demonstrated strategic thinking and a strong understanding of municipal service, with several proposals offering promising concepts that could potentially be implemented in the future.
“We’re incredibly proud of the participants from the City of Kingman who dedicated 12 weeks to enhancing their leadership capabilities through Mohave College’s Corporate Education Program,” said Gina Kremper, Associate Dean of Corporate Education. “Their commitment to growth and development will undoubtedly translate into stronger leadership within their organizations and improve the quality of services offered to the residents and businesses in the City of Kingman.”
Kremper noted that the program brings meaningful value that extends beyond individual participants. It strengthens local government by enhancing leadership, improving decision-making, and optimizing resources, which leads to more efficient services and potential cost savings. These improvements directly benefit the community through better infrastructure, responsive administration, and increased civic engagement that ultimately enhances residents’ quality of life.
The second cohort, comprised of 12 additional City employees, begins this week.
