BULLHEAD CITY, AZ., June 14, 2024 – City of Bullhead City staff and contractors will be working on the following projects throughout our city during the week of June 17:
  • The Optimum Community Center will be closed while City staff and contractors remodel the facility. The community center is expected to reopen to the public in the late summer of 2024.
  • T.R. Orr Inc. will continue working to expand the Bullhead Senior Campus Building. The new senior campus expansion will add 9,000 square feet of space to the building, including 7,700 square footage of indoor activity and meeting space and 1,300 square feet of covered outdoor patio space. Construction is expected to wrap up around August 2024.
  • A contractor will be rehabilitating the 18-1 lift station located just Southeast of the intersection of Highway 95 and Laughlin Ranch Blvd. The project involves installing paneling made of Predl material to protect the well from corrosion and other enhancements to prolong the system’s lifespan.
  • A contractor working on behalf of Bullhead City Utilities is nearing completion of phase one of the project to install reuse piping and valves at the section 10 water reclamation plant. This will allow the City to conserve precious water by pumping grade A reuse water into the Colorado River.
  • A contractor working on behalf of ADOT is installing new street lights in various locations along Silvercreek Road as a part of a Highway Safety Improvement Project awarded to the City. Some lane closures will be in effect while crews work along the shoulder of the road. This project is expected to be completed by mid-June.
  • The Tiny Tots playground at Ken Fovargue Park will be closed while a contractor builds a new shade cover over the playground. The work is expected to be completed by June 30.
  • A new ADA-accessible playground is being installed at Rotary Park adjacent to the existing playground nearest the outdoor fitness court and the ADA walking and biking trail. The playground’s proximity to the trail ensures access from anywhere in the park. The playground will be accessible to wheelchairs, have its own shade cover, and have manipulatives for people of all abilities.
  • A contractor working on behalf of Bullhead City Utilities will continue installing a water main interconnection near the intersection of Merrill and Highway 95. The work will be performed during the day and cut across Merrill Ave east of Highway 95. Traffic along Merrill Ave will be reduced to one lane while work is ongoing. Flaggers will direct traffic as construction occurs.
The City reminds the public to only flush human waste, toilet paper, and grey water down the drain. All other waste products should be disposed of through other means to avoid damage to the city’s infrastructure.
Please use caution while traveling through City work zones. Obey posted signage and traffic control devices.
The public is encouraged to use the Bullhead City Direct app, available for Android and IOS devices, to report issues around the city directly to the City Staff who resolve them. Visit for more information.
