Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are currently investigating a fire turned death investigation that occurred on Friday (1/19) in Meadview. At approximately 5:26 PM, dispatch was notified of a structure fire in
the 26000 block of N Sandy Point Dr. and that a female subject was still inside the residence. Deputies arrived on scene and made contact with a male subject, who advised he had been cooking inside when he
went outside to retrieve more water. While outside the residence, he heard an explosion and observed he fire when he went back inside. The male subject attempted to put the fire out using fire extinguishers, and
when that did not work, he went to retrieve the female subject. The two parties became separated, and the male was not able to remove her from the residence. Once deputies were able to approach the residence, a
deceased subject was located inside the home.

Detectives were called to the scene and began an investigation. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending positive identification by the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office. This investigation
is ongoing.
