On June 17th, an intense confrontation occurred at the Bullhead City Clerk’s Office involving William “Scotty” McClure. In the presence of all Bullhead City staff, McClure directed threatening remarks at City Councilman Rich Lettman during a discussion about the compliance of McClure’s political signs, which had been removed for non-compliance. McClure, addressing Johnny Loera, Planning and Code Enforcement Manager and member of Flood Plain Management, stated, “I’m going to shove it up his ass.”

During this heated exchange, McClure further insulted the staff, calling them “lowlife creeps” and “scumbags.” The aggressive nature of the confrontation left the staff distressed and concerned about the potentially dangerous situation.

This evening, July 16th, 2024 at the City Council meeting, Councilman Lettman addressed the incident during his public remarks. Holding up a thumb drive, presumably containing video evidence of the altercation, Lettman announced, “I’m going to file a police report. This needs to come to a stop; it’s wrong and inappropriate. I will defend myself,” he concluded.

William “Scotty” McClure is currently running for Mohave County Supervisor District 2.

The video evidence was found from a Public Records Request submitted by The Buzz News Media on June 22, 2024.
