On 06/19/24 at about 0638 hours, emergency crews were dispatched to the area of Arroyo Vista Drive north of Joann Avenue in reference to a reported vehicle that rolled down an embankment. The preliminary investigation determined a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer operated by a 17-year-old female resident of Fort Mohave, Arizona, was traveling southbound on Arroyo Vista Drive from the Bullhead Parkway. The Blazer left the right edge of the roadway for reasons unknown and traveled up a dirt embankment before striking a large boulder and then rolling down the other side of the dirt embankment. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle is believed to have been ejected from the vehicle as it rolled, and the vehicle came to rest about 40′ below the surface of the roadway.
The driver of the Blazer was conscious and communicating with Bullhead City Fire Department personnel at the scene. The driver was transported from the scene by Bullhead City Fire Department paramedics to the Western Arizona Regional Medical Center in Bullhead City, Arizona where she was subsequently transferred via helicopter to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada for treatment.
Impairment is suspected to be a factor in the collision and the incident remains under investigation.
