Groundbreaking Celebration Announced for the Kingman Route 66 Nature Trail

KINGMAN, AZ – The public is invited to attend the official Groundbreaking Celebration for the Kingman Route 66 Nature Trail on November 7th. The event will be held in the parking lot located at 3rd Street & Andy Devine Avenue (Route 66).

Event Schedule:
• 3:00 PM – Hualapai ceremonial blessing of the earth, educational booths, education and vendor showcase
• 5:00 PM – Community celebration featuring live music, food, and a beer garden

About the Project:
The Kingman Route 66 Nature Trail is a community-driven initiative fully funded by a generous grant from the Route 66 Association of Arizona and community-raised funds. Over 90 community members have already registered to volunteer as Friends of the RT 66 Nature Trail for future planting and maintenance. The project brings together native plant expertise and community spirit, with local volunteer professionals working alongside Vision Landscaping for the professional installation.

Project Goals:
• Educational Corridor: Establish an ethnobotanical walkway along Historic Route 66 to educate residents and visitors on native plants and their traditional uses.
• Downtown Beautification: Revitalize a prominent stretch of the Mother Road, creating an authentic and welcoming Kingman experience.
• Environmental Sustainability: Build a drought-tolerant microclimate that fosters diverse native plant growth while offering a cool sanctuary for local pollinators and wildlife.

This initiative represents a true community collaboration brought to life by Kingman Main Street, in partnership with the Hualapai Cultural Center, Golden Valley Botanicals, Kingman Powerhouse Kiwanis, Cerbat Garden Club, and dedicated Friends of the RT 66 Nature Trail, together with the City of Kingman.
