LHCPD Awarded Governor’s Office of Highway Safety Grant

The Lake Havasu City Police Department was awarded a grant in the amount of $27,163.00 from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) for conducting increased traffic enforcement operations and providing officers with additional equipment for enhanced traffic enforcement and accident investigation. This grant covers the 2025-2026 federal fiscal year, which runs from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026.

The Selective Traffic Enforcement Program, or S.T.E.P. Grant, enables the department to increase its traffic enforcement capabilities by assigning personnel on overtime to concentrate on speed enforcement activities using directional radar devices. In addition, the grant supports the acquisition of portable breath test instruments and accident investigation equipment. The goal is to reduce the number of speeding-related crashes, traffic fatalities, and injuries caused by speeding, aggressive driving, red-light running, and other forms of risky driving behavior.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department is committed to making community streets safer for all motorists through enforcement, education, and public awareness. Traffic safety remains one of the most frequent concerns expressed by community members. As part of the grant safety contract, the department is required to maintain and submit statistics to the GOHS on a regular basis.
