LAKE HAVASU CITY, AZ – On October 12, 2024, at approximately 12:50 p.m., the officers of the Lake Havasu City Police Department were called to respond to a shooting incident at the 1500 block of Beachcomber Boulevard. The shooting reportedly involved an unauthorized Can-Am off-road vehicle, which was being driven on a track at the said location.
Upon arriving at the scene, it was ascertained that a security guard had tried to flag down the aforementioned vehicle to escort it off the track. Unresponsive to the guard’s signal, the driver bypassed the guard at high speed, perilously missing a direct collision. The security guard, in an attempt to halt the vehicle before the arrival of the police, discharged a firearm at the vehicle’s tires as it escaped the scene.
Following an investigation, Paul Woodly, a 64-year-old resident of Lake Havasu City was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct with a weapon. Woodly was released on his recognizance after the initial hearing. Thankfully, the incident didn’t result in any physical injuries, and currently, there is no perceived threat to the community’s safety.
The Can-Am vehicle harbored two male individuals; the driver, a young man in his mid to late 20s with shoulder-length brown hair, while the passenger’s description remains undisclosed.
Residents possessing additional information related to this incident are urged to contact the Lake Havasu City Police Department at 928-855-1171, or Havasu Silent Witness at 928-854-TIPS (8477). Information can be submitted confidentially.
