MAGNET Conducts Fentanyl Bust

Detectives with the Mohave Area General Narcotics Enforcement team a HIDTA initiative and ACJC supported taskforce have ended a four-month long investigation into a Drug Trafficking Organization (DTO) operating in Mohave County. This Drug Trafficking Organization was providing Mohave County with deadly fentanyl laced pills and methamphetamine. The investigation ended as the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team along with Detectives and Special agents from multiple agencies executed three search warrants in and around Kingman, AZ. On February 5th, 2022, Search warrants were executed in the 1200 block of West Beale Street, 2100 Block of Omaha Drive and the 2000 Block of Badger Hollow Road.

The main target of the investigation identified as Jose Manuel Gonzalez-Sandoval AKA “El EME” was taken into custody around 3:00pm on February 5th, 2022, in Flagstaff, AZ by Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) on warrants issued by MAGNET. Christian Castro-Barraza was also arrested in Kingman for his involvement in the DTO prior to the search warrants being executed. During the investigation Detectives and Agents seized 3 firearms along with 4 pounds of methamphetamine, 5,400 fentanyl pills, and 4 ounces of cocaine with a combined street value of approximately $100,000.

During the investigation MAGNET was assisted by Detectives with the Flagstaff Metro Narcotics Investigation Taskforce along with agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Jose Manuel Gonzalez-Sandoval (49 of Mexico) was ultimately charged with the following felony offenses: 3 counts of Transportation of Dangerous Drugs for Sale; 3 counts of Transportation of Narcotic Drugs for Sale; 2 counts of Possessing a Weapon During a Drug Offense; and 2 counts of a Prohibited Possession of a Firearm.

Christian Castro-Barraza (26 of Mexico) was ultimately charged with the following felony offenses: Possession of Narcotic Drugs for Sale; Possession of Dangerous Drugs for Sale; Promoting Prison Contraband; and Possessing a Weapon During a Drug Offense all felonies. Both were booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility.
