MOHAVE COUNTY, AZ – October 28, 2024 – Mohave County Superior Court Judge, Rick A. Williams, has recently been honored with the prestigious Arizona Supreme Court Strategic Agenda Award for Enhancing Professionalism within Arizona’s Courts. The honor comes in recognition of his remarkable work in the Adult Recovery Court program.
Annually, distinguished individuals and court programs in Arizona are nominated for their valuable contribution towards realizing the aims set forth in the Chief Justice’s strategic five-year plan. This year, honorees spanned six categories, each recognized for their ground-breaking approach to Arizona’s courts coupled with their steadfast dedication to achieving excellence.
Among the prominent honorees, the Mohave County Adult Recovery Court earned praise for its work as a treatment program serving post-conviction individuals. Participants, evaluated as having moderate-to-high risk of recidivism and in need of significant therapeutic services, benefit from the collaborative efforts of Judge Williams with the Mohave County Adult Probation Department and various service providers and community stakeholders.
Judge Williams, in his nomination, was characterized as “a beacon of integrity and empathy” with “tireless efforts” that have not only solidified the rule of law but also significantly uplifted the community.
Reacting to the award, Judge Williams expressed, “Presiding over treatment courts is the most fulfilling assignment of my judicial career as it allows me to work with a team of passionate professionals and diligent clients keen to overcome challenges and improve their lives.” He also extended his gratitude for the award by adding, ” It is an honor to be recognized for my efforts. Any success I achieve is owing to the unwavering support of my colleagues in both the court and probation, my treatment court team, and my family.”
