MOHAVE COUNTY—Two trains reportedly collided early Tuesday evening outside Truxton, said Mohave County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Anita Mortensen.

Their agency was dispatched to the scene at 3 p.m. and found that one of the trains had derailed and the other sustained significant damage.

An unidentified male was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another victim was airlifted from the scene by a Arizona DPS Ranger helicopter to a nearby hospital.

He reportedly had suffered significant injuries, said Mortensen.

A close source to the investigation told The Bee the victims are reportedly based out of Needles and were traveling westbound from Winslow when the trains collided.

The investigation remains under investigation.

The Nation Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has been notified and are investigating the accident.
