BULLHEAD CITY, AZ – A powerful storm in the area caused a major provider of electrical power to the Mohave Electric service territory to suffer a brief outage Sunday evening.
The storm caused a circuit breaker to lock open at the Davis Dam substation resulting in a brief outage to 3,745 Mohave Electric Cooperative members Sunday, August 21 at 9:28 p.m. Davis Dam is one of the substations that MEC relies on for transmission of purchased power.
In Bullhead, 1,127 members lost power and 2,618 members who receive their power from the Hualapai substation also lost power. The Western Area Power Administration (WAPA), who manages the substation, was able to reset the breaker restoring power to all the members at 9:33 p.m.
Outage restoration is important to Mohave Electric Cooperative and every effort is made to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. Please remember, there are many ways to report an outage. You can call our toll-free line at 1-844-632-2667, text “outage” to 55050 from a number linked to your MEC account or use our SmartHub® application on your mobile device to report the outage.
