OATMAN–A southern California man died Friday after crashing on Oatman Road.

Mohave County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said deputies responded to a report of a fatal crash shortly before 6 p.m. near milepost 9 on Oatman Road. Investigations determined two motorcycles were traveling north on Oatman Road, heading towards Oatman, when they failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway and went off the road, crashing.

The drivers were identified as Brian Hansen, 55, and Michael Hansen, 54, both from Foothill Ranch, Calif.

Mortensen said Michael Hansen suffered minor injuries and was taken to Valley View Medical Center for treatment. However, Brian Hansen died on scene as a result of head trauma. Neither motorcyclist were wearing a helmet.

Alcohol or drugs appear not to be a factor, although speed and being unfamiliar with the area are contributing factors, said Mortensen.

The accident remains under investigation.
