MOHAVE COUNTY, AZ (August 18, 2023) –Mohave County Risk & Emergency Management officials encourage county residents to continue to monitor any impacts from Hurricane Hilary over the next several days.  Heavy rains and wind conditions with the potential for flooding are anticipated.  Watch for current weather developments and National Weather Service warnings and be prepared for potentially property damaging and life-threatening situations. Residents should take necessary preparedness activities to minimize impacts from strong winds, heavy rains, possible power outages, and have appropriate resources such as food, water and medications as there may be a need to minimize or restrict travel.

Residents may want to avoid any travel and should not attempt to cross any washes or other areas with running water and stay inside during storms. Those living adjacent to washes should constantly monitor water flow conditions that could threaten their homes.

Tips for Drivers

  • Do not attempt to enter or drive through a flooded road! The depth of water is not always obvious.
  • Don’t drive around barricades. Barricades are there for your protection. Turn around and go the other way.
  • Treat non-working or flashing traffic signals at intersections as a four-way stop. Proceed with caution.

If residents experience an emergency situation, they should contact emergency responders by dialing 911.  If residents experience a non-emergency situation, they are encouraged to contact the appropriate agency to assist.
