LAKE HAVASU CITY–The City of Lake Havasu was named the recipient of the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting award this month for its comprehensive annual financial report.
The award is presented by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management, said city spokesman Jerry Bracamonte.
“Havasu City prepares this financial report to provide a resource to the community, so residents have easy access to information that explains where the City’s resources come from and how they are used to provide services to its residents,” he said.
The CAFR is judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users to read the CAFR.
The GFOA is a major professional association servicing the needs of nearly 19,000 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, Illinois, and Washington D.C.
The CAFR is available to view on the Lake Havasu City’s website at www.lhcaz.gov/documents.
