Just after 10am Monday (8/1) morning, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office received a call indicating that while riding their ATVs in a wash, they came across a white Chevy truck that was upside down and had a deceased male inside. Deputies responded to the scene and requested Search and Rescue to assist in recovering him. The body was conveyed to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office. Identification of the deceased male is being withheld pending next of kin notification. Our condolences are with the family. Please respect their privacy during this time.
The investigation of the scene revealed that the truck had been swept down the wash the night before (7/31) during the monsoon rains. There were multiple calls of vehicles reported that night, but no reports of a vehicle at this location. The swift waters created by the monsoon rains are very dangerous, and oftentimes recede quickly. Search and Rescue wants to remind everyone when encountering flooded roadways, please “Turn Around – Don’t Drown”!
